IPL 2021 Auction Update
IPL 2021 Auction comes to an end today. Once again money is fellow on the players. All the franchise spend too much money for purchasing last year’s heroes or valuable players.
In 2021 Year Chris Morris achieves the most expensive player title. Rajasthan team purchase him at Rs. 16.25 Crore. In another place, the uncapped player Krishnappa Gowtham also received the reward for their last year’s performance. Chennai Super King purchases him at Rs. 9.25.
Here are some highlights of the IPL 2021 Auction
Sunrisers Hyderabad did the least shopping as they already had a squad of 22. Still, they were very smart and towards the end, bagged Kedar Jadhav and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for their base price. Really a steal.
Just imagine, Rashid and Mujeeb bowling together, that’s 8 overs of class. Jadhav has often struggled with his fitness but this will be his opportunity to become the finisher for SRH, an area where they always lack a big hitter.
It was a pretty quiet auction for Mumbai Indians. They were ready to wait and watch and went with full force for the players they wanted. Nathan Coulter-Nile was bought back by them for 5 crore INR and Adam Milne was another quality inclusion in their bowling department.
Piyush Chawla’s experience will be handy and it’s going to be a big learning curve for Arjun Tendulkar. Their squad is already looking in excellent shape and these acquisitions will help them in plugging the gap if any.
Unlike every time, Punjab Kings were very smart in their approach. Apart from Jhye Richardson for whom they paid 14 crore INR, they did many smart buys like Dawid Malan , Fabian Allen, Moises Henriques.
After that, they opened their purse for Riley Meredith (paid 8 cr INR) who will offer their pace attack some extra fire and pace. Shahrukh Khan and Jalaj Saxena are some of the known Indian names they bought as well and the former, in particular, is coming with a big reputation.
Rajasthan Royals will be in the news for doing the biggest buy in the history of IPL. Chris Morris, if stays fit, might just be the perfect all-rounder they need to get the balance right.
They did a bargain deal for Mustafizur Rahman and Liam Livingstone, and Shivam Dube is the Indian all-rounder who will provide them with options to shuffle the pack.
Think of the names like Shreyas Gopal, Mayank Markande and now the Royals also have the mystery of KC Cariappa in their spin bowling ranks. Looking quite balanced!
Bangalore were involved in a couple of the biggest buys of the day as they bagged Glenn Maxwell (for 14.25 cr) and Kyle Jamieson (for 15 cr). Apart from them, Daniel Christian, the trophy-winning man, is also in their squad and the Red Brigade would feel that they have suitably addressed all the areas.
In the local players, the big-hitting Mohammed Azharuddin, Sachin Baby, and Rajat Patidar are a few talented individuals and RCB would be hoping that their investment in them pays off just like Devdutt Padikkal.
Chennai Super Kings were quite smart with their spending. Krishnappa Gowtham is the biggest buy for them, also the costliest uncapped buy of this auction and his all-round option will come in handy for them.
The 3-time champs lacked a quality off-spinner and with Moeen Ali added, their squad will now look better balanced. The addition of Cheteshwar Pujara was a bit of a surprise and then they invested in a few unknown commodities.
Delhi Capitals already own a very balanced squad and they added the likes of Steven Smith, Tom Curran, and Sam Billings in the mix.
Umesh Yadav will offer some extra bite to their already hostile pace army and then there is Manimaran Siddharth who showed his value in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament.
Kolkata Knight Riders bought back Shakib Al Hasan and with Sunil Narine and Andre Russell losing form and fitness, the Bangla star will be a big all-round boost to them.
They already have a great mix of local and foreign bowlers and the inclusion of Ben Cutting, Harbhajan Singh, and Pawan Negi will offer more depth. Their batting looked thin last season and Karun Nair might just be the glue they need to hold the middle order.
